The adjoining dining table takes up space that could otherwise serve as kitchen worktop.

A large storage room beside the entrance is useful. The double-height entrance itself offers less practical value; extending the upper floor over this area could create a larger bedroom, subject to checking structural and building constraints.

The upstairs bedroom has a toilet but no shower on the same level. Moving the shower upstairs could make daily use more convenient. Enlarging the bedroom over the entrance could also provide more wardrobe space.
